QUEER DESTINATIONS COMMITTED

An international standard
of safety, quality & excellence

Our mission is to create safer and more inclusive tourist spaces for the LGBTQ+ community

Queer Destinations is the bridge that connects businesses, institutions, and destinations with the LGBTQ+ segment. Through the Queer Destinations Committed Distinction, we assist businesses in adapting their products and ensuring the safety of all customers, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Queer Destinations Committed Distinction is achieved by training 100% of employees through our educational program: Hospitality meets diversity. This program covers everything from the history of the LGBTQ+ community to real-life case studies, aiming to deliver the best possible experience for both queer travelers and employees.

Our method incorporates updated statistical data, interviews, and practical case studies. This aims to create a secure environment for discussion and education about the LGBTQ+ community, their consumer habits, and appropriate reception practices. Being a Queer Destinations Committed destination or company communicates a simple and honest message to the community: “You are welcome here and you can be yourself” After completing the educational program, companies and destinations that obtain the Queer Destinations Committed Distinction, will receive a kit that includes, among other deliverables, a Badge with QR code for traveler feedback about their experience at the location.

Cultivating diversity & inclusion

Our method contains the elements that enable a responsible and respectful approach to the community

Beyond rainbow-washing

Labeling an establishment as “LGBTQ+ friendly” is a promise that businesses must be able to prove or it can backfire.

A comprehensive foundation must be built to avoid rainbow-washing, starting with human talent awareness and leading to a diverse and inclusive internal culture.

That’s why we require 100% of all human talent to go through our LGBTQ+ sensitivity training.

Reinforcing inclusivity policies

One of the most important things a company can do to target LGBTQ+ travelers is to have a good reputation among its employees.

High levels of diversity and inclusion in the workplace are associated with greater productivity, innovation and workforce well-being.

By the end of the year, 10 destinations will have the ‘Queer Destinations’ seal, among them: Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Chihuahua, Morelos and CDMX.
